Founded in 2015 in Five Dock Sydney, Akasha has rapidly become one of Australia’s most-awarded and successful independent brewers. While we may have started in the Emerald City, Newcastle has always been an important place for Akasha, with founder Dave and many of our team having deep ties to the city and its surrounds.

Our love of great beer with good friends inevitably led us to the doors of The Edwards, and here we found a community of like-minded souls who just wanted to do their own thing and enjoy exceptional brews, food and music together. So when we were offered the chance to make The Edwards part of the Akasha family, we jumped at it.

In a way, The Edwards is our thank you to our passionate Newy friends, family and fans. A place to come hang out and catch up, like our original Five Dock Taproom. We know it’s played a special part in the cultural life of Newcastle, and are committed to continuing that contribution. So come by, say hello, and make yourself at home at The Edwards.
